The Global EA Leader Workshop, held from October 8th to 11th, 2024, was organised by IASA Asia Pacific at the St Giles Signature Hotel in Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur. Supported by ATD Solution and CreaVision, the workshop brought together enterprise architecture (EA) professionals from across the region.

Over three days, participants from Singapore, Japan, and Malaysia engaged in comprehensive training sessions, focusing on the pivotal role of EA in driving digital transformation. The workshop concluded with a site visit to MATRADE on Day 4, offering participants a unique opportunity to see EA principles applied in real-world, global business scenarios.

Key highlights included:

Day 1 and 2:Enterprise Architecture Fundamentals and Model Design.

Led by Morgan Rassan Global, Senior Business Architect of ATD Solution, the session covered the fundamentals of Enterprise Architecture, including business model development, customer journey mapping, and effective communication strategies. Participants engaged in workshops on stakeholder management, project prioritisation, value stream mapping and designing platform business models.

Day 3: Business Agility and Business Transformation Insights.

Discussions kick start by Koji Shiota, President & CEO of CreaVision, centered on business agility and the integration of EA with project management frameworks to support continuous digital transformation. Participants learned how to align business architecture with IT operations, ensuring seamless execution of digital initiatives.

While Dr. Dilip Mutum, Professor of Monash University, Malaysia explored the role of data driving competitive advantage through targeted digital strategies on his topic Social Media and Data-Oriented Decision-Making.

Dr. Shamshul Bahri, Senior academic in the Faculty of Business and Economics, Universiti Malaya and a Distinguished member of the Association for Information Systems, take on the final center stage with his topic Real Digital Transformation focused on practical approaches to achieving transformation that extends beyond technology adoption.

Day 4:MATRADE Site Visit: Real-World Applications of EA Principles

The final day featured a site visit to the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), where participants were hosted for a session on cross-regional collaboration in EA and digital transformation.

MATRADE's team shared their experiences, emphasising the importance of agility, collaboration, and innovation across borders. This interaction offered participants valuable insights into how EA principles can be applied to streamline operations and enhance organizational agility.

The workshop fostered meaningful discussions on how to enhance organizational agility and drive innovation globally.
